Make a day of it
Bring Your People
Christmas shopping is a chore on your own and an outing with three other people. The market is small enough to browse together and big enough that everyone finds something.
Why it works as an outing
It is one indoor room, so nobody gets separated and nobody is trailing behind in a car park. You can walk it together, double back to the booth someone liked, and still be done inside a couple of hours.
It is also cheap to say yes to. Admission is low, parking is free, and there is no minimum spend — so it works even for the friend who is only there for the company.
And it is a good excuse. "Come Christmas shopping with me" is a much easier invitation than trying to find a free evening in December.
Planning it
- Buy tickets together beforehand. Cheaper than the door and nobody is hunting for cash at the entrance.
- Everyone brings a toy. A new, unwrapped toy gets you in free — so the whole group gets in for nothing and a fire department gets a carload. All toy donations will be donated to the Deer Park Fire Department.
- Come for opening. The first hour is calm enough to hear each other and the tables are still full.
- Do a lap first, buy second. Saves the conversation where two of you bought the same thing for the same person.
- Lunch after. Admission covers the whole day, so you can go out and come back if something is still on your mind.

Planning a group trip
Is a Christmas market a good group outing?
It works better than most shopping trips because it is one indoor room — nobody gets separated, you can double back to a booth someone liked, and it is done in a couple of hours rather than a whole day.
What does it cost for a group?
Admission is a few dollars each, or free for anyone who brings a new unwrapped toy — so a group can get in for nothing. Parking is free and there is no minimum spend, which makes it easy for the friend who is only coming for the company.
Can we buy tickets together?
Yes. One person can buy several online in a single checkout, which is cheaper than the door and means nobody is hunting for cash at the entrance.
Is there anywhere to eat?
There are food vendors at the market, and your admission covers the whole day — so you can go out for a proper lunch nearby and come back if something is still on your mind.
What time should we get there?
Opening. The first hour is calm enough to actually hear each other, and the tables are still full.
